Few General CAT Insights
- The difficulty of questions automatically changes as the test taker proceeds with the exam, depending on the number of correct or incorrect answers that are given.
- Scores are based on number of questions answered correctly and difficulty level of those questions.
- The first question that is given in a multiple-choice section is considered to be an “average level” question that half of the GRE test takers will answer correctly. If the question is answered correctly, then subsequent questions become more difficult. If the question is answered incorrectly, then subsequent questions become easier, until a question is answered correctly.
- You cannot skip a question; you can’t return to previous questions; you can’t change an answer.
- You must finish the sections; there is strong penalty for leaving the test incomplete.
- First few questions are much more important than the last few.
- Bad performance in one section does not affect the other section.
- There are 20 experimental questions in the test.
